The End is Nigh!!

For the spice of life and freedom of speech.

http://www.24dash.com/content/news/viewNews.php?navID=7&newsID=5468

Synopsis:
Some guy isn't allowed to preach using a megaphone. Ok, whatever... he's a crank [don't mean to offend anyone but...]

I enjoy walking past these people and tapping my head. Is anyone actually afraid or scared by these people? They amuse me like the rowdy shouts of an Istanbul bizarre. Lets also ban Chinese restaurants, and Greek ones, and... better idea: let's ban restaurants, the stench of cooked and cooking food oozes onto the streets and stinks up the place. Did i mention tramps? ban them aswell, they're visual polution and human detritous.

Lets ban colours, everyone must wear white! Personally I get headaches easily and colours just makes it so much worse. Perhaps English people can wear white and those foreign types can wear black - just so you know when you start a conversation if you're going to encounter a linguistic or cultural barrier. And lets ban people going out after dark. Because i can't see my car from my bedroom window when its dark and someone might rough it up and that thought stops me sleeping.

Also valium/lithium for all so everyone is nice and mellow.

Hooray!

p.s: yes i do realise he hasnt be BANNED and hes just not allowed to use a megaphone. So lets keep restaurants so long as you can't smell them on the other side of the road...

And now for something completely different...

Damn weather. Fooled me again!

A few weeks ago it was sunny in Brighton. When I was in London I gathered shorts and summery clothes and took them back with me. Cue 3 weeks of miserable pissy weather.

I now arrive in London and it's sunny here today, all my shorts are in Brighton.

Tuesday, tomorrow - i'm going to go back to Brighton and the forcast is good, so is the Friday after. I will use my shorts! (or eat them).

Sunday

Woke lateish and had a sandwich whilst watching the Monaco Grand Prix. Good stuff.

Left house 3:30 ish to get to Dagenham Heathway, I packed a weeks worth of clothes and took my passport (almost, not really - it is miles away though). Sat on District line for well over an hour, began to hallucinate... I saw this vast area of 'London' which didn't look like London. Crazy stuff.

Went to Dave's house and had a few beers.

Saturday

Woke Oxford.

Jo, How many alarms do you need to go off to wake you up?????

Arrived London middayish

Watched Star Wars II, (Clone wars) Had a Siesta and went to dinner at a family friend's who lives nearby. Tasy BBQ, plentiful wine. Home and now sleep.

Night

Friday

Today I woke up, summer seems to have been a brief 3-4 days over a week ago and the grey drizzle was spattering on the window pane. Had a cup of hot chocolate and headed for a logic lecture.

After that I had a sausage and bacon sandwich. It was very good, but the bread was the cheap stuff that is easily squashed into a thin mush that cleaves to the room of your mouth.
At noon I headed for the pub to meet some other people, most of whom study International Relations, we sat around worrying that we haven’t started revising yet and perhaps we should be.

I headed for London afterwards and read on the train a publication of the Institut Liberales de Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung called The Capitalist Peace. It’s rather good and follows my course on War and Resistance rather well, so it should be rather easy to drop into essays.

I then had an early mixed grill: Lamb chops, tomatos and that sort of thing. Then on to Oxford for a drink with friends!

Oxford was great, saw "Cellar" Dave (I know yr reading this). Had a large Capuccino, time was not on our side and after an hour at 22:00 i had to leave and go to the beautiful Joanna graduatation party from St. Claire's College (IB). That ended remakably quickly at 1:30am and we left for Xi'an's, a chinese restaurant, which was closed. Ended up at the only club we could find open (the Coven?? I forget...) Which was having a Gay Night.... Thanks to Jo and Sky for saving me at certain occasions, and to Rob i can only say i'm so sorry they were busy saving me... my heart goes out to your violated flesh... And thanks to Sky for buying me a Coke, i was stoney broke.

Thursday, a day of toasted cheese...

Today i woke up to a bacon sandwich and a lecture on the EU.

I then got back, around midday and ate 4 slices of 'cheese on toast' whilst watching Dr. Strangelove.

This evening I had another portion of yesterdays spaghetti Bolognese and again i saw the earwig, again on my bed. Again I went to remove it, not wanting to splat it all over my sheets and again the flick of my hand did not direct it onto the 'killing zone' as planned but, rather, into reclusion. The damn thing is taunting me.

Night!

Wednesday

Not alot happened, I Think I ate a ham and cheese toasty around midday and made a large amount of spaghetti bolognese to eat in the evening and for future days.

There is an earwig in my room, apart from a cockroach I can't think of a more repulsive looking creature crawling on you bed... It is still alive... somewhere.

Tuesday Morning, or so I thought...

Woke up and saw it was a nice day.

Decided to reintroduce breakfast into my diet, a healthy move I thought.

Realised it was 3pm... felt guilty... this would be more of a late lunch than a healthy breakfast move.

Made a ham and cheese toasty. My special cheese-proof method (below)!

Ham Engineered Cheese Sandwich:

1) Place ham on bread with an overlap as shown. Do this 4 times to cover the piece of bread.

2) Grate cheese onto bread. Plenty of cheese!!

3) Fold overlap ontop. This prevents the cheese leaking out during the toasting proceedure and making the bread sodden with oil. Also doesn't make a mess of the grilling machine / George Forman Grill.

4) place ham on top to complete to seal. Toast it!

5) The finished master werk. And no I didn't put too much thought in to this, I just have so much spair thought left over this sort of thing happens. ok?

A Kitchen Comparison

Remembering the Kitchen we used in Guyana a few years ago (pictured) I've come to the conclusion that the kitchen in my current flat is adequate.

People treated the kitchen in Guyana better though, people here have no respect. Dirty folk.

Monday A.K.A Sunday II

Woke up had a cup of tea... nothing to do today, even forgot to eat...

6pm put chicken in oven
7:40 Dave goes to buy chips
8pm Dave and I eat chicken & chips

Went to East Slope bar for a pint of Grolsch, I managed to pay for it with: A 50p, one 20p, one 10p, 60 p in 5ps and 60 pence worth of 2 pence pieces... Now i'm scrapping the barrel.

Another fascinating day accomplished

7pence and the story that followed

A few days ago I realised that I had £20.07 in my account. I instantly withdrew the remaining £20 in case some direct debit went out and left me high and dry.

A few days later with 7pence to my name I began to update and rewrite my CV in prospect of having to look for a job. In doing so I unearthed my old CV on my old computer and also found my personal statement which I used to apply for Uni.

So almost at the end of my first acadaemic year and about 2 years after I wrote it, or rather fabricated it here it is. I can't be sure this is the final version, but if not its fairly close:

"The way the world works has always interested me, leading me to take A level subjects that I believed would allow me to view the world from more than one perspective. English has helped me understand people through examples in literature and given me the ability to communicate;
Design Technology has allowed me to see how things work and increased my ability to solve practical problems. Most importantly Economics has been my framework, showing the reality and structure of the world we live in.

A cursory reading of Chris Brown's 'Understanding International Relations' coupled with my interest in Economics encouraged me to read widely in and around the subject from mainstream Keynesian orthodoxy such as J. K. Galbraith to well known texts by Marx, Engels and Rousseau. I found globalisation to be an interesting topic, reading Naomi Klein's 'No Logo' and Joseph Stiglitz's 'Globalisation and its Discontents' and finding the latter more readable.

Finding out about politics and the actions of political figures such as Ho Chi Min, Nicolae Ceausescu, Henry Kissinger and Donald Rumsfeld has expanded my knowledge of current affairs, reinforcing my understanding of the reasons behind the current political climate. I acquire my day-to-day information in current affairs from the 'Financial Times', 'The Economist' and I use the Internet to probe deeper into certain topics.

College life has been very rewarding for me: The Combined Cadet Force has provided me with a wide variety of experiences and the opportunity to speak with many participants of recent conflicts on my visits to military bases. Working my way from the lowest rank to Warrant Officer, the highest rank in the CCF, has given me good team skills both as a member and leader as well as improving my organisational and time-management skills, I have attended a variety of courses including a potential officer course at RNAS Culdrose. It has given me the confidence to be true to what I believe in leading to my participation in the Stop the War marches and Anti-Bush demonstrations, although I do not always agree with the arguments of the more radical 'intellectuals' of the left and bear Schumpeter's warning of such people in mind. I by no means follow any group blindly and I find it interesting to debate issues with the people I meet and have found some very articulate and incisive people.

As a member of the Union Committee I work on a team helping students to achieve the most out of running and attending extra-curricula activities; I am the chairman of the Croquet Society. I took the opportunity to trek around Guyana for a month in the summer holidays with World Challenge. This enabled me to see and experience different ways of life: from then peaceful tribal societies, where I helped teach in a village school, to the ruthless capital city, Georgetown.

Finally, I intend to become fluent in a modern language to increase my ability to communicate and enable me to fulfil my potential in future careers.
I want to promote my level of understanding of International Relations above that provided by current affairs media, bringing with me my understanding of relevant economic ideas."

Saturday

Woke up leisurely and made myself a ham and cheese toasted sandwich at around 13:00

Lazed around all day.

Had a ham and cheese toasted sandwich at 21:15. Pondered what to do - not alot on.

Friday

Woke up, 10am logic lecture. All good.

Came back, made a pineapple crumble - too much corn flour, too much ginger.... not inedible just uneatable [everyone else seemed to tuck in though].

This was preluded by a ham and cheese toasty, great stuff.

Then I made some white lightning and special brew snakebites with pernod...
watched Clockwork Orange.

Dinner from pitstop - sausage and chips.

First part of Monty Python and the Holy Grail then a short snooze and on to Daisy's birthday... back now and people making noise in the kitchen and the rain is drumming in my window.

Would the world be better without kitchens and windows? Maybe for a few hours, then again maybe not, what if i wake in the middle of the night and need the lavatory and there is no kitchen to walk through, dilema.

Picture imperfect

i think i've run out of space for pictures or something, the last one doesnt show at all and the one before only shows about half the photo. I hope this is something i can manage to sort out!

Today I will be mostly drinking my patented "Snakebite Ultra" Whitelightning (7.5% cider), Special Brew (9.0% lager), a double shot of Pernod (40%) and Blackcurrent (in this case Ribena...)  Posted by Picasa

Wednesday

I had a 9am Seminar which tequila and I had convinced myself wouldn’t be a problem. I woke at 5 to 9 and decided this would most definately be a problem and went back to sleep.

Chicken pie, it was very tasty! Chicken breasts with mushroom and a tin of chicken soup (for moistness). Note the hilarious maths joke on the pie crust, get it? yeah... Posted by Picasa

Computer difficulties.

My £400 Dell laptop has ceased to start up... it hasn't quite lasted a whole acadaemic year. I'm going to try to fix it, luckily I have bought an external hard drive and most information is stored on that so worst case scenario, i'm hoping, is that i just have it blanked.

Funny how this Sony Vaio which is 3 years old and has taken alot of abuse having been dragged to school in a bag and generally kicked around as well as having visited Monaco and the Caribbean is still working fine.

Buy cheap, buy dear.

Edit: problem now resolved, Dell not complete shite after all.

Me in the sun. (they are mushrooms). Posted by Picasa

Watched an Italian film called Marlena on Sunday, it is very good. Reminded me of a Quotation of Monimus in Meditations by Marcus Aurelius: "Things are determined by the view taken of them".

To the 3-4 people who actually read this blog: Sorry if its been all over the place and hard to comprehend lately, thats likely to remain the feel of the blog for a while.

FRIDAY - the last one

(if I cant sort it out: this is last fridays post that I accidentally deleted)

Internet has been bad lately - so apologies

Woke up for my 10am Logic seminar

A veggie burger in Falmer bar (by mistake - i ordered a backon cheese burger) at 13:30Dinner was pasta with mince and onion and tomato sauce.

Currently eating a yellow bell pepper, to which i am mildly allergic and can feel my throat swelling to. but they have a sweet taste and it is all that i have to nibble on.

I watched a film: DAMAGE : today, it wasnt a good film but had a freaky and compeling idea behind it.

1 raw tomato and a slice of bread (the nose) plus a dash of tommy-k (t'was dry). Twelve hours later at 01:15 monday.

Tonight was a little unusual and bizarre, mainly to remind myself: 1 too many, shaving foam, N and S, there's then mine, nothing, hair, confusing and paranoid
