To the tune of Auld lang syne...

From hurricanes, to terrorists,
It's been hard, to just get by,
Here's hoping, the year, 2-0-6
Is lot better than 2-0-5!
Well Kim Jong is throwing fits and the shuttle's on the fritz
There's an intafada brewing on the Gaza Strip
The deficits arising
And half of Europe hates my guts
And industrial Americas going bankrupt!
There is a great sense of urgency,
I must crush the insurgency
My approval ratings in a dive
Hope it's not another year like 2-0-5
A leak investigation has got my White House in a snarl
A special prosecutor is after my friend Carl
And our energy dependency has put me in a bind
Oh don't worry about Alaska it'll be just fine.
My appointee was a big flop,
the housing markets about to pop
With record profits at the pump
I drive an SUV and take it in the rump
All of our jobs gone overseas
Each week I make $1.73
From Katrina, FEMA, Gitmo too
The last thing I need now is the avian flu
Cause every problem in the world lands right here on my desk
It's hard to rule the free world but I'm doing the best I can
From pirates in Somalia, to that nut job in Iran
I tried to get to Crawford, even there couldn't get no rest.
From same sex marriage, stem-cells, Scooter Libby, Tom DeLay
Here's hoping, the year 2-0-6, is lot better than 2-0-5.

Duck

Leg of duck casseroled with onion, muchroom and orange and eaten with a baked potato. A gratifying Thursday lunch.

I preluded this with a boiled egg, goat's cheese and rice cakes.

Admission of failings...

yuh... sorry that this blog is winding down... I suppose it will stagger on in one form or another but is mostly defunct. Exciting food gets posted on www.anotherfoodblog.com as ever.

A full 24 hours

Wednesday film night was Withnail &I, for which I made copious amounts of bloody mary's.

Thursday I woke up relatively early and sauntered in for my 1pm seminar, afterwards I got some books from the library and hung around at the MUN cake sale stall.. It was also ladies day... there were 'paint your own vagina' stalls and weirdness... On Tuesday I had gone to see the Vagina Monologues as part of this feminist fest.

It was also the Indian 'festival of colour' or 'holi'...

I then eventually managed to get up the energy to leave campus and go into town for shopping for the prohibition themed party which is occuring tonight.

Getting out at Brighton train station I saw a crowd and wandered over to see what the fuss was about. I asked the ticket inspector and he eyed me up and down and asked his colleague if it was ok to say. His colleague judged me not to be a terrorist and told me the Queen was coming (to get on a train and go home) The train looked pretty ordinary, though I suppose it didn't smell of vomit.

Wandered around buying fancy dress stuff then went home and ate a massive pizza that i made myself.

Went shooting, fired off 150 rounds of .22 - I'm becoming rather good.

Went out for drinks.

Apparently...

Risotto

Laura hosted a dinner party of Funghi Porcini Risotto followed by icecream. I had 2 helpings of risotto and ample redwine. Went to the last night at EventII before it closes (thank god), left early for a relatively early night.
