Plitsvice, Croatia. There is a biological process that goes on here which is unique. It was scientific and badly translated, but I gather what happens is the trees fall into the water and get encrusted by stone (calcium I suppose). Its not quite like fossilisation where the rotting wood is replaced by mineral deposits etc. Just develops a stone casing.(perhaps, I may have it totally wrong).
